Swing Left is seeking three Deputy Field Directors to play a key role in shaping and implementing our field strategy for winning back the House in 2018. Deputy Field Directors will primarily work to build and strengthen the volunteer infrastructure in our 64 target Swing Districts. Each Deputy Field Director will focus on a designated region of the country and manage volunteer Regional Coordinators who help to coach Swing Left local leaders. They will also be responsible for supporting existing Swing Left volunteers teams, identifying new emerging leaders, and helping develop new strategies for local leadership development. Position reports to the Field Director.

Swing Left is a grassroots network of 300,000+ volunteers working to take back the House in the 2018 midterm elections. Our organization is led by professionals from the tech, media, finance, nonprofit and art worlds in collaboration with veteran political organizers and strategists.
Responsibilities
-Work within assigned region to build, and maintain, district and local teams; as well as identify and recruit volunteer leaders.
-Work closely with the Field Director to design and develop systems and best practices for supporting volunteer leaders, and the teams they’re building in Swing Districts across the country.
-Support the Campaign Director on special projects related to the development and implementation of Swing Left’s upcoming campaigns.
-Meet established metrics and organizing goals; track progress to goals and monitor success of the organizing program in assigned region.
-Coach and support volunteer leaders as they work to meet their goals.
-Facilitate both in-person and webinar trainings in assigned region.
Requirements
-A minimum of two years of organizing experience; with an emphasis on managing volunteers in volunteer-centric campaigns. Preference for candidates who have worked in electoral and non-electoral organizations.
-Ability to travel as necessary.
-Comfort in a rapidly changing virtual work environment (Swing Left is still very much a startup).
-High level of comfort with using technology to support organizing (Slack, VAN, email platforms, social media platforms, etc). Experience with digital organizing not required but is preferred.
