Empowering young leaders to protect and expand Democratic majorities.
Year-round, strategic grassroots involvement is crucial for our democracy. Swing Left makes it easy to take action to help Democratic candidates win up and down the ballot, make a tangible impact on your campus, and build long-term organizing power.
About the College Programs
In 2020, we proved the power young people have to bring about great change. But the work can’t stop there. Grassroots organizing must be year-round if we want to continue to win elections and preserve the progress we’ve made over the last three years. Young people are more diverse and progressive than generations before, and now we’re the largest block of registered voters in the electorate. When we work together on elections, we change traditional notions of what’s politically possible.
Our 2022 priorities are to defend the majorities in the U.S. House and Senate, and build democratic power in the states.
Whether you’re a seasoned organizer or this is your first time taking action, Swing Left's College Programs has a path just for you.
College Network
The Swing Left College Network is committed to empowering a national network of young leaders with the tools needed to create lasting change. It comprises activists and campus groups at schools across the country that are working to transform our government. Any student or existing campus group aligned with Swing Left’s mission can join the Network.
We help student leaders and campus teams take meaningful action towards year round grassroots organizing to win elections and preserve the progress we’ve made over the last three years. We do this while building long-term organizing power and developing future leaders. We focus on mobilizing campus communities to vote and volunteer.
We support members of the College Network in three main ways:
- Strategy: Swing Left does the homework for you, pointing students to key geographies and effective voter contact opportunities.
- Resources and tools: The College Network provides access to free resources and tools that are specific to college organizing. We also give Network members one-on-one coaching and direct support from our Youth Organizing Board Members, and Swing Left staff.
- Connections: We build power through our relationships. The Network connects student leaders across the country to learn from each other, collaborate, and make change together.

Youth Organizing Board
Swing Left’s Youth Organizing Board is a cohort of young leaders working to protect and expand the Democratic gains of the past three years.
The Youth Organizing Board consists of seven talented young people, who serve as coaches, strategists, facilitators, and most importantly organizers, for student led groups across a region of the country. To connect with our Youth Organizing Board Members, please sign up for the College Network.
